Very busy as of late and this morning I was catching up on my favorite bloggers. This particular post grabbed my attention, “Social Media is a Lotta damned work”. First, I laughed, thinking “isn’t that the truth”, but then continued to read and found Mack’s candor on the topic refreshing.
I was first drawn to The Viral Garden, though a meeting with Mack Collier, the author on Twitter. I enjoy his candor on Twitter and then began to explore his blog and have been a fan every since.

What is LinkedIn’s real purpose? It is a social networking platform for making connections, right? Wrong.
Wrong? I was sure surprised to learn I had been using LinkedIn improperly.
Hmmm, that must be the reason they “blocked” me from contacting people in my groups, without their email address. LinkedIn was nice about it, stating they would remove it, if I basically acknowledged I now understood the concept.

Anyone who knows me or engages with me on Twitter, soon realizes I believe in the power of Twitter. It has become one of my favorite daily social networking tools. A surprise considering I started with the question “what is a twitter”.
No morning paper for me anymore, just coffee, blogs and my Twitter peeps, for the first hours each day. Topics change by the minute as information is spread through Twitterville. I have found this to be a to be a complement to traditional face-to-face networking.
Businesses are expanding globally and online social networks make it easier to develop business, promote, communicate and share resources around the world. It has helped make it easier for small and medium sized companies to grow their networks and compete in the global market place.

This is a very interesting video, “Learning to Change – Changing to Learn”. It was created by Pearson Education, Inc. is an international publisher of textbooks and other educational material, such as multimedia learning tools.
It begins with this statement:
“The US Department of Commerce ranked 55 industry sectors on their level of IT intensiveness. Education ranked number 55, just below coal mining.”
