Tweetburner – Tracking Shared Twitter Links

I follow a variety of wonderful professionals on Twitter. Through their daily links I learn a great deal, on a variety of levels, without the time investment of surfing the internet for information. I use links as part of my daily education process, quick, easy, sent by respected members of my network community.
In return, I send out information that I found interesting or helpful. That information was valuable to me, but how to analysis the value to my network community? Sure, many times I get tweets of appreciation or DM’s, but that is not a analysis by any means.
In compiling [...]

Twitter – How Do You Manage the Noise?

What is noise? The “noise” they refer to is you, their network of followers. Examples include tweets about pets, children, going to the gym, what someone ate for lunch, etc.
Over the years I have learned, great ideas, long lasting friendships and partnerships, often come from amazing places.  Looking at the surface is not a good judge of a person or situation.  Everyone has something to offer, everyone is necessary, everyone is of value.
This video remains one of my favorite Social Networking tips, one I thought I would share with you today.  The video is by Gary Vaynerchuk, a man with [...]

LinkedIn Social Network and Spam

I enjoy the benefits of connecting with colleagues, friends, clients and other people in our industry.
This isn’t random spam, this is spam being created by network connections.  How can this be? Interestingly, everyone views spam slightly differently.  I have found a few, who view it as the reason they have a network, which I find interesting.
The benefits of LinkedIn are plentiful, however using it as an adverting tool is not one of them.
Obviously, everyone in LinkedIn has a product or service to promote, but I find the direct emails, which are apparently random in nature, as they not directed to [...]

What is LinkedIn?

What is LinkedIn’s real purpose?  It is a social networking platform for making connections, right? Wrong.
Wrong? I was sure surprised to learn I had been using LinkedIn improperly.
Hmmm, that must be the reason they “blocked” me from contacting people in my groups, without their email address.  LinkedIn was nice about it, stating they would remove it, if I basically acknowledged I now understood the concept.
Interesting enough, even if I had watched this video, and completely understood the concept of LinkedIn, I probably would have contacted “group” members.  I consider a “group” as a collection of people sharing common interests and [...]

Beginning Your Online Social Network

I have found this to be a to be a complement to traditional face-to-face networking.
Businesses are expanding globally and online social networks make it easier to develop business, promote, communicate and share resources around the world. It has helped make it easier for small and medium sized companies to grow their networks and compete in the global market place.
Where to start? That is indeed a great question, one I had in the beginning. I started with one of my favorite internet resources, about.com.
They had several articles to point me in the right direction. The first Online Business Networking Tip: Be [...]

Twitter In Plain English

Common Craft has created a reputation, for taking complex ideas, and turning them into short, unique and understandable videos.
I thought this would be a nice compliment to the posting “Twitter, What is a Twitter” and “Twitter Two Months & Counting”.
Common Craft has many more enjoyable videos, on their website as well as on YouTube, teaching Social Media services and applications in a easy to understand format.

I hope you enjoy and if you know of any other useful videos of Twitter, please let me know.

Twitter – Two Months & Counting

In the two months I have been testing this tool, I have discovered far more benefits to Twitter than ever imagined. It strikes me as funny, that I have only been using Twitter for a few months, because I already have created some wonderful relationships. This alone has made my Twittering experience worthwhile.
In addition to making new contacts and friends, I have been lead to valuable resources, helpful links, new social networking services, evaluations of new communication tools, alternative phone services, advice, support, and education and been witness to new ideas and the use of future technology.
It makes me smile, [...]

Twitter? What is a Twitter?

In April, I began to research the changes in Social Networking, and kept seeing references to Twitter. What is Twitter?  A micro-blog, posts up to 140 characters.
First thought was, what could I possibly say in 140 characters? Why would I want another social membership? Do I have time to fit one more network into my day? I had a lot of questions and soon founding myself needing to know more?
I went to my LinkedIn network and posted a
Immediately began getting responses. I was told there were lots of interesting people talking on Twitter, interesting contacts that are not easily found on RSS or [...]
